Vetrimaran Biography:

Vetrimaaran was born in Cuddalore and he lived in Vellore until his tenth grade. Later he moved to Chennai. He holds a degree in Bachelors of English and he continued Masters in Television Presentation in Loyala College, Chennai. He started his career as an assistant director to Balu Mahendra. He worked with Kadhir for the movie Kadhal Virus and he continued to work as he an assistant director to Balu Mahindra in Julie Ganapathy. His first movie as a director was in Polladhavan. The movie was released after so many struggles. The movie was a super hit. He, then launched his second project Aadukalam with Dhanush which was critically acclaimed with him winning two national awards and actor Dhanush bagging the National Award for Best Actor male. In 2012 he launched his own production company Grass Root Film Company. Udhayam and Kaakaa Muttai are jointly produced by his production house.

Aadukalam starred Dhanush and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. The movie was about the cock- fights between two groups which lands the hero in a lot of trouble. The won was a huge hit and won critical acclaim. Vetrimaaran bagged two national awards and Dhanush bagged one while Kishore won it for editing. VIS Jayabalan won the special jury award and Dinesh Kumar won it for best Choreography with the movie bagging a total of six awards and the most in the 58th national awards.
